Maria Sharapova, the highly-rated 16-year-old Russian, claimed "the biggest victory of my career" after beating the world No 23, France's Nathalie Dechy, 6-3, 6-2 in the DFS Classic yesterday.
However, during the match Sharapova's opponent and players on an adjacent court complained about her grunting and shrieking. The tour supervisor, Donna Kelso, said she had accepted the complaint.
"I asked Miss Sharapova if she could be a little bit quieter without wanting to disrupt her game," said Kelso, who added that she had also received a complaint from players on a neighbouring court.
