Each day, The Independent's tennis correspondent, Paul Newman, will be charting the progress of Great Britain's best hope at Wimbledon, Andy Murray.
The Scotsman became the first Briton to win at SW1 since Fred Perry 77 years previously when he beat Novak Djokovic in the 2013 final. The Serbian is now the reigning champion after his victory over Roger Federer last year.
Murray beat the ace machine and 6ft 11in Ivo Karlovic in three sets on Monday to reach the quarter-finals for the eighth year in a row. He faces Canadian Vasek Pospisil on Thursday at SW19.
