The path to an eighth Wimbledon title appears wide open for Roger Federer as the Swiss goes into Friday's semi-final against Tomas Berdych in imperious form and heavily favoured to claim a record-extending 19th grand slam crown.

Federer is the only member of the so-called "big four" left in the draw after Rafa Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic all failed to make it past the quarter-finals and few would bet against the 35-year-old from claiming victory on a surface he loves.

The third seed is two victories away from moving clear of Pete Sampras and William Renshaw at the top of the list of men's Wimbledon champions and will meet either Croatia's Marin Cilic or American Sam Querrey should he get past Berdych.

Federer has yet to drop a set at this year's championships and the form guide suggests he will prevail against Berdych, with the Swiss on a seven-match winning streak against the Czech player, who has not beaten him since 2013.

Murray and Watson on collision course

Andy Murray may not be in semi-final action today but his big brother, three-time Grand Slam winner Jamie, is.

He and Martina Hingis are taking on Marcelo Demoliner and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles. That match is yet to be arranged but will not be taking place before 4pm.

In the other mixed doubles semi is Murray's fellow Brit Heather Watson. She and Henri Kontinen are last up on Court One against Bruno Soares Elena Vesnina, the second seeds.

Cilic yet to lose to Querrey

Marin Cilic and Sam Querrey have met four times previously in their careers, with the Croat coming out on top in all of them.

The pair took part in the second-longest Wimbledon match of all time in 2012. Cilic took the final set 17-15.

Cilic* 1-1 Querrey (*denotes next server)

Querrey begins his service game with a winning serve-forehand combo but a netted slice backhand followed by a cross-court backhand passing shot by Cilic puts the Croat 15-30 up on the American's serve. A trio of huge serves follow as Querrey holds to 30.

Cilic* 5-5 Querrey (*denotes next server)

A big serve-forehand combo to start with from Querrey before an unreturnable serve takes the game to 30-0. The American loses the next point as he misses a defensive slice backhand but a forehand error by Cilic followed by another unreturnable serve seal a hold to 15.

Cilic* 6(6)-7 4-3 Querrey (*denotes next server)

A cross-court forehand passing shot by Cilic followed by a couple of missed groundstrokes by Querrey bring up three break points for the Croat. The first one goes begging as Cilic sends a backhand return into the net but he makes no mistake with the second as he beats Querrey at the net with a backhand pass down the line.

Cilic 6(6)-7 5-3 Querrey* (*denotes next server)

Querrey sends a cross-court backhand into the tramlines before an ace and a forehand winner by Cilic bring up three game points... of which the seventh seed needs just one as Querrey nets a forehand on the run.

Cilic* 6(6)-7 5-4 Querrey (*denotes next server)

Querrey starts the game with a big forehand winner before an ace takes the game to 30-0. However, the American loses the next two points as Cilic passes him at the net before he sends a defensive forehand well wide. A couple of unreturnable serves follow as Querrey seals a hold to 30.
