The sound of `music' still under threat

They have had to get used to the idea that they will not be able to take the Wembley goalposts home with them this time. Now Scottish fans may face a greater indignity.

Swiss supporters filled the stadium with the sound of cowbells when their side took on England, but the Scots may be banned from bringing their bagpipes to Wembley. The musical instrument had been included on an official Euro 96 list of offensive weapons and, while the safety officer at Villa Park (where Scotland face the Dutch tonight) has relented, Wembley officials will not make a decision about Saturday's game against England until tomorrow.
