NFL star charged after ‘remember to pack the explosives’ joke at airport

An NFL player has been charged with making “criminal threats” after he made a joke about explosives while passing through airport security at Los Angeles airport.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Trevor Davis, 24, asked a friend if she had “remembered to pack the explosives” when he was being asked security questions, the police said.

Davis has been released on bail pending a court appearance.

“Trevor Davis checked in at the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter and was asked the usual questions about whether he was carrying any aerosol cans, knives, weapons or explosives,” Los Angeles Airport Police spokesman Rob Pedregon told ESPN.

He added that the case has now been referred to the LA county court system.

His team meanwhile said they were “aware of the matter involving Trevor Davis” in a short statement.

“We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter," the Packers added.

Davis was a fifth-round draft pick from California Golden Bears in 2016 and last season served as the Packers’ primary kick returner and punt returner.
