The Google Advert - Alec Brownnstein
In 2010 the unemployed 26 year old decided him wanted to work for one of New York’s top ad agencies.
“I came up with the idea while Googling myself. I realized that everyone does it, including the creative directors for whom I wanted to work.” Alex hired out Google ads so that whenever they Googled their names, up at the top would pop “Hi, Ian Reichenthal, googling yourself is a lot of fun. Hiring me is pretty fun too.” (To see the full application, check out the video at the bottom of this article.)
He targeted five executives, and four gave him an interview. “In the interview, all of the creative directors said the same thing: they hadn't been googling themselves, but in fact, someone else had shown it to them.” Alec said, but “Since I was looking for a job, I didn't call them out on it. But I knew the real story!”
Two execs finally offered Alec a job. The entire exercise cost Alec just $6.
