If you are going through Clearing we want to hear from you

Clearing can be an emotional rollercoaster but there's no need to feel like you're alone: talk to us! Or, even better, talk to other people going through Clearing.

If you didn’t get the grades you were hoping for, don’t worry; more than 30,000 students enter higher education through Clearing every year and the vast majority find a course they love.

Talk to each other

Check out the forums, where you can discuss your thoughts on Ucas applications, Clearing, which universities are the best and worst (both socially and academically), gap years, accommodation and a hell of a lot more.

Talk to The Independent

We always like to know what’s going on in your life here on the Student desk. What went through your mind when you saw your results, for example? Perhaps you have already found a place through Clearing, or you are having second thoughts about going to uni altogether?

hello,

I would like to let you know that i found clearing not only a difficult process but also not very helping and quite slow, i have received my passport for clearing well before the satart of uni but when i want to send it to the appropriate uni, they could not provide me with an accurate address nor the post code that it should be allocated,i am still waiting until now i am now very discouraged about the whole process and dont feel like starting again!

I originally applied to Cambridge, Durham, Kings, UCL and Warwick to read english. I had interviews at kings &cambridge but unfortunately I was rejected by all 5. My confidence in my own ability has taken a huge knock and I don't believe in myself as much I did before. In Clearing the only place I could find was the University of Reading to study English. I'm really not looking forward to going there but I decided to try &push myself &see what happens. I always talk about exploring the unknown so now I'm going to give it a go. I didn't like the university campus very much, the library wasn't very appealing either and the english tutor I spoke to was really patronising and difficult to speak to.
I feel extremely disappointed in myself, from almost going to universities that are top for english, to one I dont even like and is a lot lower in league tables. I know this shouldn't matter but am I doing the right thing?Should I try and utilise this chance or am i selling myself short???
