Generation Rent: Top-ten UK cities with the lowest rent prices for students

London is nowhere in sight as Belfast takes the lead with a weekly rent average of just £46.22

Following the new report from economists at accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) which found more than half of 20 to 39-year-olds – a.k.a. ‘Generation Rent’ – will be forced into renting by the year 2025 because of high living costs, students will have to make time to do some serious research into where they will live when choosing a university post-exam results.

Thankfully, though, NatWest’s Student Living Index 2015 has compiled a list of the most affordable cities in the UK for rent for students after speaking with almost 2,500 across the UK.

Predictably, London is nowhere in sight at the top of the list.

So, if students are being forced into the category of ‘Generation Rent’ for the foreseeable future, let’s see where they should head to if they’re looking to move-out in time for term beginning:

1) Belfast
The Northern Irish capital has come out on-top with a weekly rent average of just £46.22.
