History: Coventry University has taught business studies since the early Sixties. A Faculty of Business was formed in 1987 before the current incarnation followed in 1990.

Address: The school's main base is at the William Morris Building in the central campus.

Ambience: Historic. The building dates from 1916, and William Morris bought it in 1923 for making car engines. Acquired by the university in 1992, its top two floors were destroyed by a fire in 1964, which were rebuilt and the whole space refurbished to include computer labs, lecture theatres and specialist post-graduate teaching facilities.

Vital statistics: There are almost 6,000 students on undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses. The school offers MBAs in international business, finance and marketing as well as a general award, taking 200 full-time and part-time students. All MBA participants take core modules such as business environment, human resource management and methods of management research. There's even an MBA in sport management.

Added value: A particularly technology-driven business school, Coventry is proud of its virtual learning resource which provides state-of-the-art online learning facilities anywhere and at any time It also has a new £18 million library.

Easy to get into? MBA applicants should have at least a second-class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. All students must have at least two years of relevant work experience, and foreign students must satisfy English language requirements.

Glittering alumni: Charles Morgan, Morgan Cars; Gary Kibble, retail trading director, Shop Direct Group.

International connections: Links with several foreign universities including Oulu in Finland; Beijing and Guangzhou in China; ESC Montpellier and ESC St Etienne in France; and Krakow University of Economics in Poland.

Teaching: Awarded 22 out of 24 by the QAA in its most recent audit.

Student profile: The average age of full-time students is 25, or 35 for part-timers. The male to female ratio on the full-time course is 3:2, or 2:3 on the part-time.

Cost: The MBA is £7,560 for UK & EU students, or £10,260 for non-EU.

Return on investment: Improved career and salary prospects, as well as IT know-how.
