History: Leeds Business School has been in existence under various names for a century and a half. It's part of the faculty of Business and Law, one of the largest faculties at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Address: From 2009, the school is based at the new Rose Bowl in Leeds Met's Civic Quarter, right in the city centre.
Ambience: The Rose Bowl is due to be a state-of-the-art learning environment, a multimillion pound glazed development with seven lecture theatres, 31 seminar rooms, a "social learning" space and a café. The school hopes it will place students firmly in the heart of the region's business community.
Vital statistics: One of the largest business schools in Europe, with more than 5,500 students. Offerings include the full-time MBA and a part-time executive option. Research centres include the nationally recognised Policy Research Institute, the European Regional Business and Economic Development Unit and the Centre for Public Relations Studies, together with a number of smaller units specialising in a range of business disciplines.
Added value: A key element of the MBA is the European residential held in the second semester in a major European business city. In 2008 the destination was Milan and the programme had input from leading firms such as Pirelli.
Easy to get into? For the full-time MBA, you'll need a good first degree, at least three years of work experience and an IELTS score of 6.5 if English isn't your first language. The part-time executive MBA requires a degree and at least five years of management experience.
Gurus: Professors Anne Gregory, public relations; Ralph Tench, communications education; John Shutt, regional business development; Paul Iles and Jim Stewart, human resource management, leadership and talent management.
International connections: Study visits to various European cities are organised for students on the MBA and MA in European public relations. Undergraduate students can spend time in Europe, the US or Sydney. The school has a strong international profile and runs programmes in Hong Kong and China, with new developments in Turkey, Africa and Vietnam.
Student profile: The average age on the full-time MBA is 27, with a male to female ratio of 3:2. The average on the part-time MBA is 36, with a similar ratio. 90 per cent of students are from overseas.
Cost: Full-time MBA course fees are £10,000 for UK/EU and for international students. The part-time executive MBA is £3,000 in year one and £6,000 in year two.
