Ready to Wear: Just as nature intended – the return of the bushy eyebrow
Monday 23 August 2010
Big is beautiful. And, no, this is not some sort of tokenistic comment on the great size zero debate, pending the run-up to the next round of shows.
Fashion clash: The celebrity nightmare that can't be avoided
Sunday 25 July 2010
It's the fashion clash every girl wants to avoid: turning up in the same dress as someone else. But it's apparently harder to prevent than you might think. How else to explain the Miu Miu dress that turned up on no fewer than three different glossy magazine covers last week?

Observations: Annie Kevans - There's more to these faces than meets the eye
Friday 27 November 2009
Annie Kevans has an eye for what makes an eye-catching portrait. Her oil-on-paper likenesses look simple, almost childlike, but they come with a sting in the tail. The 36-year-old artist began painting in her final year at St Martin's with Boys, a set of pictures of dictators as children – a blue-eyed Hitler in a simple brown jacket, a wan Franco, a petulant Pol Pot. "People think it's a bit naff, really cutesy and then, oof, it's Hitler."

Tom Sutcliffe: Ban an image and the more it is noticed
Tuesday 06 October 2009
I can't recall attending a redacted exhibition before, but by the time I got to Tate Modern's new show "Pop Life" it had, in the dictionary definition of that word, been put in an appropriate form for publication, at least as far as the police were concerned. The odd, chapel-like enclosure in which Richard Prince's Spiritual America is displayed was sealed off from gallery-goers while negotiations continued about the lawfulness of an image of the 10-year-old Brooke Shields, naked and precociously sexualised.
Editor-At-Large: Superwoman is now dolled up as the supermissus
Sunday 04 October 2009
Forget WAGs: there is a new female royalty. They spend their time espousing worthy causes while dressing for maximum impact. They maximise every photo opportunity, they twitter and they blog; getting their man's message out is the name of the game, all in the name of PR. But, unlike their husbands, they've never stood for political office. In fact, they don't really have a proper job, in spite of being well educated and highly intelligent. Some might say they represent a giant step backwards for womankind. These leaders' wives are famous for being a Mrs – women with another man's name identifying them. I don't know about you, but this isn't what I've fought for in the name of equality.
