The mouthy malefactors of Jamie Oliver's Dream School series are symptomatic of a generation that is far too big for its boots. Last week's episode saw (I'm afraid there's no other word for her) some gobshite tearing a strip off a calm, patient and well-meaning headmaster for not allowing her talk while he was speaking.

As Hollywood said its farewells to Ronni Chasen, the popular publicist who was gunned down at the wheel of her Mercedes as she drove home a week ago from a glitzy premiere party, sombre speculation continued as to whether she was the victim of a random shooting or a contract killing by professional assassins.

The people out there are angry, say the politicians. In a floundering attempt to play the sincerity card which has served them so well in the past, they turn their sheepish, plastic bag-claiming, moat-clearing, manure-collecting, property-flipping eyes to the camera, and bleat about the system and how voters are terribly, terribly angry.

"More is more" is the philosophy behind the costumes in the musical of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. The show is currently previewing at the Palace Theatre in the West End of London, and the maestro behind the rhinestone-studded, camper than Christmas wardrobe is Tim Chappel, who won an Oscar for his costumes for the original movie.
