Broadchurch: Did it live up to the hype? (Spoiler warning)

May I Have Your Attention, Please? By James Corden

From a talented actor whose career very nearly imploded in an orgy of over-exposure, a memoir at the age of 33 is a bold move. Then again, as the title suggests, James Corden has never been one to shy away from the limelight. Aged four, while misbehaving at a christening, he realised an essential truth that has stayed with him ever since. "If people are looking at me, and only me, it feels amazing."

Diary: Emma fears bard set too high

Thoroughly charming non-cougar Emma Thompson, 51, recently starred with her husband Greg Wise, 44, in the BBC's screen adaptation of Christopher Reid's The Song of Lunch, a book-long poem of youthful lust, longing and adult regret. But, she tells me, she and her old man have a far more ambitious project in mind. "Greg wants to produce a dramatisation of all the Sonnets of Shakespeare," says Thompson. "I mean, really epic stuff." An interesting project, certainly – but perhaps a tad ambitious? "I've told him I'm not sure how he'll be able to do it," she agrees. "But he is resolute. Perhaps it will have to be just parts, rather than the whole lot. Wouldn't that be fantastic?"

When he chose not to wear a shirt for the paso doble during last weekend's Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, Saturday), it wasn't because he was showing off. No, it was just so hot in the studio after all his efforts in the extreme celebrity Arctic challenge of 71 Degrees North (ITV1, Tuesday).
