Spotlight On... Paul Walsh, chief executive, Diageo

What's this I hear about the drinks boss Paul Walsh quitting?

The Bargain Hunter: Crack open the champers

There's nothing like oysters and champagne to make you feel like a million dollars – but thankfully you no longer need to have millions to enjoy them. London restaurant Plateau is currently offering half a dozen Colchester rock oysters with a glass of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne for just £15. Available at any time of day, they can be savoured in the romantic setting of the restaurant bar or – if the weather's nice – the Johnnie Walker terrace, overlooking Canary Wharf.

Smokeheads, By Doug Johnstone

Four forty-something friends take off for a whisky-drinking winter weekend on the Scottish island of Islay: single-malt connoisseur Adam, who dreams of opening his own distillery; über-hedonist banker Roddy, who practically breathes cocaine; straight man Ethan, and sensitive Luke. The boys not only fall out among themselves, but also run into trouble with the locals. Roddy cops off with a barmaid; Adam entertains tender feelings for a distillery guide who is the ex-wife of a brutal and corrupt copper. What starts as a drink-and-drugs soaked piece of superior lad-lit turns into a ferocious thriller reminiscent of Straw Dogs. The characterisation is a little broad, but you won't want to stop reading. It also makes you thirst for whisky.

Album: LMFAO, Sorry for Party Rocking (Polydor)

Stefan Kendal Gordy and Skyler Husten Gordy, respectively the son and grandson of Motown founder Berry Gordy, have presumably never had to do a day's work in their lives. So, given unlimited leisure time and unimaginable wealth, what do you do? You party, and you party non-stop.
