There are several eye-watering anecdotes in this memoir by Tim Burgess of The Charlatans, though one in particular stands out. It involves a straw, a paper cone, a Rizla paper and two willing participants, and offers the seasoned cocaine user a novel method of ingesting their drug of choice. Suffice to say that this chapter is called "Cocainus".

Films: I saw 'Never Let Me Go' and found it very impressive. In such a believable way, it incorporates science fiction with the strangeness of the times we actually live in. It was deep, haunting and beautifully shot. My other favourite is 'The King's Speech'. Top drawer!
Dom Joly: Contemporary art is a load of old poo
Sunday 16 January 2011
I've just been to an art "do". The artists were old friends, and they always have a great turnout for their shows. This one was particularly impressive and the place was crammed with peculiarly dressed people trying to look both hip and unconcerned while glugging as much free drink as possible.

Saturday 18 December 2010
One of the most annoying things I've had to do this year was finish Keith Richards' autobiography. Once it was gone, I simply didn't know what to do with myself. Life is probably the best rock'n'roll memoir ever written, easily as good as Bob Dylan's Chronicles, but much longer.
