The Giro d'Italia is set for a stage summit finish on the famous Galibier climb in France's Alps in the not too distant future, says director Michele Acquarone.

A blustery half-gale blew away almost all hope Mark Cavendish had of claiming a first overall stage-race win here yesterday as the peloton shattered and the reigning World Champion lost nearly a minute on winner Tom Boonen.

Mark Cavendish claimed his first win for Team Sky as a trademark sprint finish earned him victory in stage three of the Tour of Qatar.
