Travel Challenge: Tanzania
Friday 09 November 2012
Each week we invite three companies to offer us their best deal or a specific break. Today: a twin-centre trip to Tanzania, combining a safari with time on the beach in Zanzibar. Prices are per person, based on two sharing. Each includes 10 nights’ accommodation and flights from Heathrow in January, 2013.

Includes Kenya Airways flights to Kilimanjaro via Nairobi on 7 January, a week’s full-board “Simba Safari” , followed by three nights’ all-inclusive at the Sandies Mapenzi Beach Club in Zanzibar. “Our Simba Safari covers all of the best-loved parks, including Lake Manyana, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. After all the thrill of tracking the Big Five, there’s really no better way to unwind than on the Spice Isle’s beautiful beaches,” says Emma Mitchell (0844 415 1918; hayesandjarvis.com).
Includes Qatar Airways flights to Dar es Salaam via Doha on 10 January, an all-inclusive week at the Mapenzi Beach Resort in Zanzibar, and a full-board three-night safari in the Selous Game Reserve. “This is the perfect trip for combining some serious luxury on Zanzibar with a mixture of exciting safari activities in one of Africa’s best reserves for spotting the Big Five,” says Nick Anstead (020-7193 2461; specialisttanzania.com).
Includes Kenya Airways flights to Kilimanjaro via Nairobi on 15 January, a five-night full-board “Essential Tanzania” safari, then five nights’ all-inclusive at the Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est in Zanzibar. “New to us for 2013 the Essential Tanzania is an independent safari offering daily departures. It includes the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most iconic national parks, and time in Arusha and the Serengeti,” says Jemma Purvis (01306 747008; kuoni.co.uk).
