Bruxelles Biennial Art Nouveau Event – From Art Nouveau to Art Deco - October 2009

The first Art Nouveau house in the world was built in Brussels in 1893. Today, more than 500 Art Nouveau buildings are still standing in Brussels, as well as many in the Art Deco style. The Biennial Art Nouveau Event is a major happening in Brussels, and breathes new life into these buildings.

The 5th Biennial Art Nouveau Event will be held over the four weekends of October 2009. Each weekend will concentrate on a particular Art Nouveau district of the city, with visits to interiors not normally open to the public, plus a wide range of guided tours on foot, by coach and by bicycle, of Art Nouveau and Art Deco architecture in many districts of the city.

The public will have the opportunity to meet the owners of the buildings and to discover hidden gems, assisted by professional guides.

Voir et Dire Bruxelles is an association of five themed tour organisers who offer many different themed tours throughout the year in French, Dutch and English for the public and for private groups.

The guides who lead these tours offer their own individual, often unusual, view of the reality of life in Brussels.
