The trip includes six days' walking with vehicle support, visits to the capital Sofia and the Rila Monastery. Prices start from £629 per person, based on two sharing, including return flights and b&b accommodation in hotels, hostels and chalets. There is a $90 (about £60) fee for meals, while those in Sofia cost extra.

Moscow

For world-class opera and ballet and world-famous attractions such as St Basil's Cathedral and the Kremlin, look no further than Moscow. A two-night city break in the Russian capital costs from £419 per person, based on two sharing, until 31 March with Sovereign (tel: 08705 768373). Slovenia

Prague

Tallin

Riga

Krakow

Its market square is the biggest in Europe and is a designated a World Heritage site. Hungary

Budapest

Kempinski Hotels (tel: 00 800 426 313 55, net: www.kempinski.com) is offering a special deal for the Easter break to the Hungarian capital Budapest. The offer costs DM541 (about £184) per person, based on two sharing, and the price includes two-nights' accommodation at the luxurious Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, breakfast and a four-course dinner, tour of the city, complimentary use of the swimming pool and fitness area. Flights are not included. The offer runs from 14 to 28 April.

St Petersburg

Central Europe
