Sud de France - The Brand

The brainchild of the Languedoc-Roussillon regional council, Sud de France is a brand created to represent wines and food products of Languedoc-Roussillon, in a way that is easily understood by consumers worldwide.

It was created in 2006 in response to consumer demand – shoppers the world over find the complex French system for classifying and labelling wine confusing, and until now, they had no way to identify food and wine from the south of France.

The Sud de France label was also designed to unite Languedoc-Roussillon’s food and wine producers under one banner, giving them a common identity and helping drive their sales, both in France and overseas.

The brand can be applied to all food and wine made in Languedoc-Roussillon, including fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, seafood, cheese, fine food products and regional specialities.

Sud de France – Facts & Figures

* Brits love Languedoc-Roussillon’s wines: we drank over 64million bottles in 2007.

* Not all the region’s star winemakers are French. Brits making award-winning wines in the Languedoc include Sir John Hegarty (Domaine de Chamans), Jan and Caryl Panman (Chateau Rives-Blanques), and Catherine and Hames Kinglake (Domaine Begude).
