The pine-covered foothills of Sa Talaia mountain provide a dramatic backdrop to this charming country casita for two. The large bedroom has a four-poster bed and French windows leading out to a private pool surrounded by tubs of lavender and wild flowers. The views extend past olive and almond groves to the sparkling sea beyond. Nearby, San Jose is home to two excellent tapas restaurants and two of the best beaches on the island, Cala d'Hort and Cala Moli, both 10 minutes away by car.

Finca 15, Sant Joan

This remote finca, situated in a wooded valley, feels a world away from the bright lights and bling of the south. Without compromising on comfort, the British owners have retained the building's original features – sunken stone baths, an outdoor shower – and filled it with exquisite furniture and quirky finds from across the globe. There's also a tipi in the garden with working electricity and a double bed; a trampoline for children and a beautiful infinity pool with views of the pine-covered valley below.
