£278-a-night resort protected by six police and 20 guards

The resort where Judith and David Tebbutt were attacked is one of Kenya's most exclusive and remote.
The Kiwayu Safari Village, nestled in a cove along a mile of pristine beach, is less than 50km from the Somali border and a day's drive from Lamu, the nearest town and a popular tourist hub.
One of a growing number of upmarket Indian Ocean resorts, Kiwayu charges £278 per night for a stay in one of its 18 beachside bungalows. Artist Tracey Emin and the actress Imelda Staunton have both visited.
It has six policemen assigned to it, and employs 20 guards. The secluded region is populated largely by bee-hunting tribesmen and crab fishermen. The resort also has its own private airstrip, which wealthier guests use to arrive in style.
One guest wrote on the hotel reviews site TripAdvisor: "The rooms are individual bandas – palatial huts made of wood and grass with no windows or doors, but enough luxury to make you feel like a movie star."
Another user praised the attentive staff and extensive seafood menu, adding: "We ate so much crab I am surprised the boat could still float."
