A British Airways flight made an emergency landing after staff smelled burning, the airline said today.
The flight from London's Heathrow airport to Houston diverted to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport last night.
Nobody was injured when flight BA195 landed at Chicago at 1.20pm local time (7.20pm BST), Chicago Aviation Department spokesman Gregg Cunningham said.
A spokeswoman for British Airways said the flight was diverted as a precaution after "what was thought to be a burning smell" was smelled on board.
None of the nearly 90 passengers and 15 crew members had been in danger.
She said passengers were taken into the terminal building at Chicago and transferred on to domestic flights to continue their journey to Houston.
She said the smell was due to a fault with one of the television screens used for in-flight entertainment which had since been repaired.
"We apologise for the inconvenience to passengers but the crew did exactly the right thing in diverting as a precaution," she added.
Chicago Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said the plane was secured without incident around an hour after it landed.
