Wild Cafe: Try the rabbit pie or falafel burger

You probably didn’t realise that it was British Sandwich Week – and, well, why would you? But by way of marking this crucial annual event and also to recognise the importance of the humble sandwich in our daily lives, we thought that today we’d write up one of our favourite UK cafés – namely the Wild Café in Bath, which not only serves a mean sarnie but lots of other delicious things besides.

Tucked away down a side street just south of Queen Square in the centre of the city (look out for the blue bicycle outside), this airy, whitewashed café serves all sorts of British classics from its open kitchen throughout the day. They are nice people and we like their style, making everything themselves and using only local suppliers; they vary their menu with the seasons, and the café runs on 100% renewable energy; and, hey, the food’s not bad either!

Try the rabbit pie or falafel burger, a hot sausage salad or crab on toast. Plus they also serve a great breakfast and a famous all-day brunch, which includes our favourite fruit pancake stack and eggs all sorts of ways. And the sandwiches? You’ll just have to visit to try them…
