EasyJet passenger escorted off flight after ‘threatening to break her son’s legs’

Fellow travellers cheer as police remove two women

Two women were escorted off an easyJet flight by police after repeatedly shouting and swearing at their children, with one of them overheard “threatening to break her son’s legs”.

Fellow passengers accused the women of being drunk before even getting on the flight, claiming they had purchased a litre of vodka in duty free and drunk three quarters of the bottle by the time it was confiscated by cabin crew.

The pair were described as being “loud and aggressive” throughout the flight, reports the Mirror, with crew forced to ask them several times to calm down.

“They didn’t stop swearing at the cabin crew and fellow passengers for the duration of the flight,” reported one passenger, adding that a flight attendant eventually asked for their passport numbers.

The incident took place onboard a service from the Greek island of Zante to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The women were reportedly travelling with five children. One of them was heard shouting at her son, “Stop it or I’ll break your f***ing legs.“

According to one passenger, the child in question was “good as gold just sat with his headphones on”.

In a recording heard by the Mirror, one of the women can be heard asking for a breathalyser test to prove she isn’t drunk.

Another passenger is heard asking her to stop swearing, prompting the response: “Who’s going to stop me? No one, I thought so. I f***ing thought so.”

After a tumultuous four-hour journey, the flight was met by police at Liverpool.

Passengers can be heard cheering as officers prepare to escort the women off the flight in video footage shared online.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “Patrols at Liverpool John Lennon Airport were requested to attend at a stand for the arrival of an inbound Zante flight at around 4pm on Monday 26th August, following reports of two disruptive passengers onboard.

“At the request of crew onboard the flight two women were escorted from the aircraft and strongly advised. No offences were disclosed and there were no further incidents.”

An easyJet spokesperson added: “EasyJet’s cabin crew are highly trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously, do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.

“The safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew is always easyJet’s priority.”
