Eurostar is offering £1 single fares for children aged four to 11 (maximum two) travelling to Paris, Brussels or Lille in August in Standard or Standard Premier class. Book by tomorrow (bit.ly/EurostarKids). For domestic travel, Virgin Trains has a Family Fare from London Euston. Returns to Edinburgh and Glasgow (excluding the Commonwealth Games period) cost £130 for a family of six, £80 to Manchester and £50 to Birmingham. Outbound tickets must be booked at least a day in advance, but the return, within a month, needs no booking. Valid for trips until 30 August (virgintrains.co.uk/family-offer).
Make a last-minute South-west dash to Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks. A week in July or August at the Golden Coast flagship park, costs £529 for a family of four, including self-catering accommodation in a "Bronze" apartment and access to 40 free activities, including high-ropes course, surf simulator and 10 swimming pools (woolacombe.com/bp).
Caledonian Discovery has a sale on 2014 cruises. For example, there's availability on the seven-day Caledonia Canal Classic Cruise from Inverness to Banavie departing 23 August. The reduced price of £785pp includes full board in a twin cabin (caledonian-discovery.co.uk).
