Water world

For £1,159pp, Travelbag has two week-long Indian Ocean options, both of which include Emirates flights from Gatwick via Dubai. Choose from the Maldives in September, with B&B at the Reethi Beach Resort and seaplane transfers; or opt for Mauritius from 1-15 July, staying all-inclusive at the Silver Beach. Book by 12 July for the Maldives (travelbag.co.uk).

Greek sun

On 20 July, Sunvil Holidays has a two-week deal in Greece for £649pp. The package is based at the self-catering Rodanthi Apartments in Sivota, facing out towards Corfu and the Ionian Sea. You'll be a short walk away from nearby beaches and the village's main harbour. The deal includes Germania flights from Gatwick to Preveza and transfers (sunvil.co.uk).

Isle seat

Can't face Ibiza for a full week? Book a short break to the White Isle instead. Between 1 and 27 September, DialAFlight has a four-night flit, based at the new Hard Rock Hotel in Playa d'en Bossa, for £549pp – leaving you just enough time to party and soak up the sun. Breakfast and BA flights from Heathrow included (dialaflight.com)

Canary call

For some late-season sunshine, consider the Canary Islands. On La Gomera, for example, Sovereign has a luxury week at the five-star Hotel Jardín Tecina, which features flood-lit tennis courts, several pools and a Jacuzzi, overlooking the island's dramatic Atlantic coast. Departing on 14 September, it costs £895pp with half-board, Thomson flights from Birmingham to Tenerife and ferry transfers (sovereign.com).
