Take in the beautiful beaches, ancient towns and rugged scenery of Sardinia. Secret Escapes has a week-long break on the Mediterranean island for £499 per person, which includes full-board accommodation at the Flamingo Hotel Resort in the far south near Pula. Flights are with BA from either Heathrow or Manchester to Cagliari for travel between 9 June and 20 July and 28 July and 24 August. Opt to take a longer two-week trip, and the price is £865 per person (secretescapes.com).
Scandinavian summer cruise
Holland America Line has a summer cruise of the Norwegian fjords for £399 per person. It departs on the MS Ryndam from Dover on 30 June and sails to Eidfjord, Alesund, Geiranger and Bergen before returning to Dover a week later. The price is based on an interior cabin, on a cruise-only basis (hollandamerica.co.uk).
Mountains of adventure
The Austrian Tyrol transforms into an active playground as the snow melts. Inghams has a week's half-board stay at the Hotel Tirolerhof for £499 per person with BA flights from Gatwick to Salzburg on 16 June and transfers. The hotel has lake views near the town of Zell and offers a free activity programme of guided walks and bike tours to guests (inghams.co.uk).
Sample the sun-soaked shore and Catalan cuisine of Barcelona on a city break with Cresta Holidays. The deal includes three nights' B&B accommodation at the simple but central Sunotel Junior Hotel and Monarch flights from Gatwick on 8 July for £299 per person (crestaholidays.co.uk).
