Really wild show
On 24 August, Explore's "East African Explorer" visits Kenya and Tanzania, stopping at Lake Victoria, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Maasai Mara in time to witness the Great Migration. It costs £2,298pp with Kenya Airways flights from Heathrow, 11 nights' camping and one in a hotel, all meals, transfers and guides (explore.co.uk).
Fly and flop
Last-minute breaks to the Greek Islands are plentiful this month, but for an option with a touch of class you might wait until 28 August.
