2. Food festival

The Channel Island of Guernsey is set to put its world-class cuisine on the map with its first food festival, taking place from 18-27 September. The Guernsey International Food Festival will be based in the capital, St Peter Port, and will include cook-offs, live cooking demonstrations, and gastronomic tours of the island.

3. High point

Hotel Vertigo opens in Dijon on 1 April. The 1926 Haussmann-style building is located in the city centre and will have 42 bedrooms, all featuring "floating" beds, mirror TVs and Mac minis. Guests can also borrow bikes or BMW i3 electric cars to explore the city. Double rooms start at €127.

4. Fly south

Southampton Airport and VLM Airlines have announced new daily service to Antwerp and Hamburg, due to start on 23 April. The flight, which will depart Southampton at midday, will stop in Antwerp at 2:25pm, before continuing to Hamburg, landing at 8pm local time.

5. Photo tour

Steppes Travel and conservation foundation crees are offering a photography tour in June with Charlie Hamilton-James, photo-journalist and star of BBC 2's I Bought a Rainforest series. The 15-day trip to Manu Biosphere Reserve, in the Peruvian Amazon, costs £5,225pp.

6. Digital detox

Are you stuck to your smartphone? Grace Santorini is introducing a Digital Detox Retreat based in its luxurious villa. Guests will surrender their devices for the duration of the three-day break to help them relax and switch off. The retreat costs €820 per person per night half board, with yoga, meditation and spa treatments.

7. Season's end

See out the ski season at The Tanzcafe Arlberg Festival which will take place in Lech, Austria for the third year in a row from 28 March to 12 April. The 1920s themed event is free to attend, allowing snow bunnies to swap their skis for dancing shoes, shimmying the night away to jazz and swing bands.
