Hotel chain fights back with 'guys getaways'

After a
Sex and the City-fuelled barrage of gal-pal weekenders, US hotel chain Sonesta is fighting back with its "Guys Getaways" packages.

The chain's "Just the Guys" packages are available at its hotels around the globe, and all feature male-oriented activities such as golf, diving or embracing the inner geek.

At the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans, guys can enjoy a welcome amenity of chilled beer and use of Segway Personal Transporters to explore the French Quarter.

In Boston, the chain's Royal Sonesta Boston is offering tours of the local Sam Adams brewery, complete with welcome beers and souvenir Sam Adams baseball caps.

For those looking for a more active getaway, the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort is offering PADI certification and a shark-seeing trip on its four- or six-night dive packages or the Sonesta Hotel Orlando Downtown has set up a golfing package complete with golf cart and complimentary shuttles and balls.

For women that still haven't had the chance to get away with friends, many of the Sex and the City 2 inspired packages are still available through September.

Hotel Gansevoortl in New York, the spiritual home of Sex and the City, has put together a "Girls in the City" package that is available through September 7.

Affinia's "Girls in the City" packages at its five New York hotels are also available through September 6.

Luxury chain Four Seasons is also running a new summer "Girl’s Day Out" package at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North in Arizona, which includes poolside lunch at and all-day access to the newly enhanced grand pool and spa complex.
