Hotel to open first Amazon store

Luxury hotel brand Westin is to retail products through Amazon, the firm confirmed February 22.

From March 1, fans of Westin's hotel experience will be able to purchase items from its merchandise collection on a branded Amazon site, making it the first hotel to have an Amazon.com storefront.

Products on sale will include the "Heavenly Bed" set, found in all Westin rooms and complete with mattress, pillows, duvets and sheets. The hotel's signature "Heavenly Bath" amenity collection and White Tea scented candles will also be on sale, alongside "like-minded" brands such as Gaiam, Kate's Paperie, Tea Forté and Riedel.

Westin says the store is dedicated to "must have lifestyle products" and will also retail fitness gear, healthy snacks, home décor, wellness books and workout DVDs. Westin guests who stay twice mid-week from February 22 through May 13, 2010 will receive a $100 Amazon.com gift card to use in the store.

Many hotel chains now offer consumers the opportunity to buy their products to take home. Westin claims that it has sold nearly 40,000 Heavenly Beds, 100,000 pillows, more than 32,000 sheets, and more than 10,000 signature Heavenly spa amenities through its Westin at Home store. Marriott fans can also buy their favorite beds and products at ShopMarriott, whilst Hilton sells its bedding and product through its Hilton To Home storefront.
