Narita Airport has been closed following an 8.9 magnitude earthquake in Japan, according to reports from the country.

Japan's Kyodo news agency says that Narita Airport, the main international gateway into Japan, has been closed to flights following Friday's massive earthquake off the coast of the country.

Sendai Airport has also been closed, according to reports, although Haneda, Japan's busiest airport, has since reopened.

Bullet trains and subway services have also been severely disrupted in the country while tracks and tunnels are being checked.
