LA's style-setting landmark hotel Mondrian (mondrian hotel.com) reopens this week after a sparkling overhaul by designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, with vivid colours and custom-designed furniture inspired by Gaudi's Park Guell.
The journey
All aboard Central Europe's first luxury train The Danube Express ( danube-express.com) visiting 12 destinations including Transylvania and the Tatra Mountains. Luxury sleeper cars are among the perks: essential for the 11-day, London-to-Istanbul run.

Myhotel Brighton ( myhotels.com) gets flash treatment rooms. A new mews house conversion is home to Jinja, a French-Japanese beauty salon and gym. Treatments range from 15-minute head massages to the 90-minute mosqueta rose healing wrap.
