Designer digs

This week, Onefinestay.com expands its online catalogue of high-end homestays in hip cities by adding rental properties in Los Angeles and Paris. The website launched with London three years ago, closely followed by a tranche of cool apartments and pads in New York last year.

World cinema

The Reel Rock Film Tour shows off adventure films by hosting cinema nights around the globe. In October, it comes to Britain (reelrock.co.uk).

Meal deal

The West Sweden region has a new website to guide you around its cuisine. It lists restaurants, seafood safaris and more (bit.ly/WestSweden).

128

The passenger capacity of Silversea's new ship, Silver Discoverer. The expedition vessel will set sail next March on itineraries in Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, far eastern Russia, South-east Asia and Australasia. A 16-day trip from Bali to Taiwan next May costs £6,550 per person, excluding flights (silversea.com/expeditions).

Power house

For the first time, Battersea Power Station will participate in the London Open House weekend from 21- 22 September. Access is free from 11am-4pm; no registration required (londonopenhouse.org).

High drama

If you're in New York from 23 September to 6 October, you can book two-for-one theatre tickets as part of "Off-Broadway Week". Productions include musicals such as Avenue Q and classics such as Romeo & Juliet (nycgo.com/offbroadwayweek).

Serve an ace

The Ace Hotel has landed in east London. The hip US mini chain has taken over the old Crowne Plaza in Shoreditch and given it a signature "rough-luxe" makeover. The Hoi Polloi restaurant will follow next month (acehotel.com).

Gold standard

BA is launching a "Lifetime Recognition" for elite members of its Executive Club loyalty scheme. Passengers accruing 35,000 tier points will retain "gold" status for life. To reach that level, make 84 London-New York trips in first class (ba.com).
