Olympic experience

Have a go at skiing or snowboarding with the chance of some advice from qualified ski instructor (and Olympic rower) Sir Steve Redgrave at Snozone Milton Keynes tomorrow. Sun and snow

Bristol gets connected to Reykjavik on 12 December, and to Marrakech two days later, both on easyJet. Both routes are twice weekly (easyJet.com). But BMI Regional is cancelling its link from Bristol to Hanover from 4 November.

Continental shift

Ninety years after it was first published, Footprint's South American Handbook has been revised and updated for 2014. The new guide features tips for family travel and a colour mini atlas; £25. Village people

With several itineraries in India's mountains and one in Ethiopia, Village Ways is launching trips to Nepal next year. The route will link three hill villages and a tented camp in the uncrowded Sailung Valley. The 10-night trips depart between March and June and cost from £1,270 per person (villageways.com).

Gatwick less quick

Rail links between London Victoria and the Sussex airport face disruption this weekend and after Christmas. Today the Gatwick Express runs only twice an hour, and tomorrow only Southern trains will run. Journeys will be slower. Between 26 December and New Year's Day, services will be re-routed via East Grinstead (with a bus link) or Horsham.
