Travel agenda: ILTM Asia begins
Friday 10 June 2011
ILTM highlights the best of Asian luxury travel in Shanghai during the coming week, aiming to tap the world's fastest-growing outbound travel market. On June 17, it's the turn of Beijing to shine, with the Beijing International Tourism Expo.
5th ILTM Asia
Hot on the heels of Malaysia-based newcomer Luxtofair, the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) is one of the bigger luxury travel shows, with companies lining up to showcase new luxury products and destinations in the region. The launch of a new trend report is also expected on the first day.
8th BITE 2011
China's answer to other major events such as the New York Times Travel Show, the Beijing International Tourism Expo can't be ignored, if only because of its sheer size: 130,000 visitors attended last year to see the latest places and products from the Chinese and international markets. As China's travelers grow ever more worldly, this is a show which can only get bigger.
Seabourn Quest naming ceremony
Blythe Danner will name Seabourn's newest 450-guest ship in a glittering ceremony June 20, after which she departs on a 14-day Maiden Voyage to Athens, stopping at seaside towns in France, Italy, Greece and Turkey.
49th Paris Air Show
The Le Bourget Air Show is one of the world's largest, the scene of a host of announcements from major aviation names, and a great day out for aircraft enthusiasts. Some 2,000 exhibitors are expected to be present at the show, and there will be spectacular flying displays on the public days (June 24-26).
Costa Favolosa naming ceremony
The 15th ship in Costa's fleet offers space for 3,800 guests and new features such as the on-board water park, new jacuzzi rooms and a club area for teenagers. The ship will be named ahead of a three-day vernissage cruise departing from Venice on July 4, calling at Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Koper (Slovenia).
