Today: Explore the gardens of the Quai Branly Museum, where Nomad, a series of mobile pavilions, has taken up residence for summer. Each caravan unfolds to reveal a different function: an ice cream van, a disco, a storytelling van and live music stage; until 4 September (quaibranly.fr). A more dramatic pavilion is outside the Institut Du Monde Arabe, celebrating the work of architect Zaha Hadid. Held inside the starship-like Mobile Art installation created by Hadid for Chanel, it documents her award-winning career; until 30 October (imarabe.org).

This week: Kicking off on Bastille Day this Thursday, the "Paris: Summer District" festival embraces a programme of music, art, theatre and an open-air cinema at venues around the city, until 9 August (quartierdete.com).

In the diary: Frui has launched a new street photography trip in Paris. The one-night tour runs 10-11 September and includes train travel, accommodation and tuition that covers anything from shooting the Eiffel Tower to catching street scenes in Montmartre (frui.co.uk/paris)

Finally, the Elegancia Hotel group (Hidden Hotel, The Five and Seven Hotels) is to open two new properties, starting with Hotel Le Crayon – a colourful, artist-inspired guesthouse in a "secret" central location – in August and Hotel O, bringing affordable, hi-tech style to the Louvre in December (elegancia-hotels.com).
