Today: A major exhibition of art by the early 20th-century American artist Edward Hopper and his peers, including Georgia O'Keeffe and Man Ray, opens at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam; until 17 January 2010 (kunsthal.nl).
This week: Autumn sees a crop of new hotels, starting in New York with the Crosby Street Hotel. Opening on Tuesday, it is the first of the Firmdale chain's hotels outside London and features its signature colourful prints (firmdale.com). Back in Europe, the ever-expanding W chain is opening its most iconic hotel to date in Barcelona on Thursday. The sail-shaped building has been designed by local architect Ricardo Bofill (starwood hotels.com). Also on Thursday, the Walt Disney Family Museum opens in San Francisco, celebrating the life and work of the man behind the mouse (tiny.cc/BEyBp).
In The Diary: The Tribeca Film Festival will be in Doha from 29 October - 1 November. The celebrated New York festival co-founded by Robert De Niro will make its international debut at the Museum of Islamic Art. Read 48 Hours in Doha on pages 14-15 (dohatribecafilm.com).
