Travel agenda: Yotel NYC set to open
Friday 27 May 2011
The latest outpost of Yo Sushi's 'pod' hotel concept Yotel will open its doors in New York June 1, although it's already been the subject of some curious interest. The hotel's Yobot, a robotic arm designed to take the place of a concierge, has been entertaining passersby at the hotel's Times Square location for a few weeks now.
Yotel NYC Opens
New York, NY, USA
Pod hotel chain Yotel opens its first outpost in the US June 1, with opening rates at $149 and a location just steps from Times Square. The property offers 669 small-but-stylish cabins, along with an outdoor terrace.
67th IATA Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit
The annual meetup of the aviation industry may not sound like the most thrilling place to be, but it's the source of important industry trends and announcements on everything from security to fuel surcharges, all of which affect the way that we fly.
5th ILTM Asia
Hot on the heels of Malaysia-based newcomer Luxtofair, the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) is one of the bigger luxury travel shows, with companies lining up to showcase new luxury products and destinations in the region. The launch of a new trend report is also expected on the first day.
8th BITE 2011
China's answer to other major events such as the New York Times Travel Show, the Beijing International Tourism Expo can't be ignored, if only because of its sheer size: 130,000 visitors attended last year to see the latest places and products from the Chinese and international markets. As China's travelers grow ever more worldly, this is a show which can only get bigger.
49th Paris Air Show
The Le Bourget Air Show is one of the world's largest, the scene of a host of announcements from major aviation names, and a great day out for aircraft enthusiasts. Some 2,000 exhibitors are expected to be present at the show, and there will be spectacular flying displays on the public days (June 24-26).
