UK low-cost carrier Bmibaby slashes routes

Relax News

BMI Baby

Bmibaby, the low-cost carrier of Heathrow-based BMI, announced November 4 that it will dramatically cut routes, aircraft and personnel due to the prolonged recession in the air industry.

BMI Baby, which recently cut routes between Manchester, England and Alicante and Malaga in Spain, did not specify which routes would be axed. The company will cut its total number of aircraft by nearly 30 percent in 2010, as well as a significant number of staff.

The airline operates flights around Europe from its four hubs in England: Birmingham, Cardiff, East Midlands and Manchester.

German air giant Lufthansa owns parent company BMI, which it recently took off the sales block after not finding any suitable bidders.

Earlier this month, BMI Baby announced a tie-in with Lufthansa's own low-cost carrier, Germanwings, which allows passengers to book tickets on both airlines through the same website.

is it too much to ask that a simple article could contain correct information?

To the person who wrote the article and to the people who proof read it and approved it for distribution on the website......if you ever get asked to become a geography teacher, please say NO!!!

I want the children of the UK to be taught by people who know what they are talking about.....and you surely dont!!!!

Back to school for you all!!!!
oh and why we are at it......

@cardiff2000 - I always thought Cardiff was in England! I'll be damned.

I'm not really suprised about bmi announcing these cuts, considering they've just taken on a new Managing Director: http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/about-us/information-centre/press-releases/20091008.aspx.

Personally I prefer booking my cheap flights with FlyBMI, they seem to have much more comfortable planes..
