The Town Hall Hotel
Bethnal Green, London, UK
The imposing 1930s Bethnal Green Town Hall officially reopened this week as the 98-room Town hall Hotel Apartments. Situated in the heart of the East End, the restoration has retained many of the original elements - wide marble halls, dramatic staircases and traditional council chamber - while adding new features such as the Viajante restaurant by celebrated Portuguese chef Nuno Mendes.
Sonesta Hotel Barranquilla
The northern Colombian city of Barranquilla is described as an energetic mix of Caribbean and Colombian cultures, with the new Sonesta hotel situated right in the heart of the city's commercial district. The 126-room hotel features a pool, fitness centre and adjacent nightclub.
The five-star Majestic Barrière reopened its 264 rooms on May 13, just in time for the Cannes film festival. It offers a rooftop pool and three French restaurants, along with a private beach and two penthouse apartments overlooking La Croisette in central Cannes.
Evanston, Chicago, USA
This hotel was originally opened in 1923 and has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment to bring it up-to-date, with 269 rooms and three restaurants. The property is located in the center of Evanston, steps from Lake Michigan.
Aloft Chapel Hill
Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
With no sign of slowing, Starwood opens the 40th property of its trendy Aloft chain, the 130-room property in Chapel Hill. The hotel offers loft-like rooms, Aloft's signature technology offerings and a bar and lounge.
