Ratan Tata's Taj hotel chain continues its expansion this week, along with a new Kimpton property in Puerto Rico and Marriott's latest move in Thailand.
The Taj Cape Town

Occupying a building that dates from 1890, this new 177-room five-star hotel represents the latest overseas expansion from Indian hotel group Taj, owned by the Tata Group. The Taj Cape Town includes three restaurants and ayurvedic "Jiva" spa.
Hotel Palomar Chicago
Chicago, IL, USA
Kimpton's new 261-room property is inspired by the idea of "art in motion," with design from San Francisco-based Diaz-Azcuy. Floor-to-ceiling windows help guests feel part of the vibrant neighborhood, just two blocks from the Magnificent Mile. The hotel also features a green roof, covered with grass and vegetation.
The W Retreat and Spa Vieques Island

Travelers visiting the white sand beaches of Puerto Rico now have an all-new resort to stay in with the opening of the 157-room W Retreat and Spa. Attractions include horseback riding and a bioluminescent bay, as well as an oceanfront infinity pool, yoga on the terrace, fitness center and full-service spa.
Villa and Hotel Majestic MajClub
The second part of the five-star Villa and Hotel Majestic is the 4,800 square meter wellness centre, which opened March 22. Stocking the exclusive Clé des Champs Chinese-inspired products and offering almost every treatment imaginable, the new wellness center completes the Villa and Hotel Majestic which opened in January 2010.
Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong
Featuring marble room entrances and white oak floors, Marriott clearly has its eyes on Thailand's burgeoning middle class in opening its second luxury Renaissance property in the country. The 333-room property offers four restaurants, three lounges and the "Quan" spa, complete with soundproofed spa party room.
