Ratan Tata's Taj hotel chain continues its expansion this week, along with a new Kimpton property in Puerto Rico and Marriott's latest move in Thailand.

Cape Town, South Africa
Occupying a building that dates from 1890, this new 177-room five-star hotel represents the latest overseas expansion from Indian hotel group Taj, owned by the Tata Group. The Taj Cape Town includes three restaurants and ayurvedic "Jiva" spa.

Kimpton's new 261-room property is inspired by the idea of "art in motion," with design from San Francisco-based Diaz-Azcuy. Floor-to-ceiling windows help guests  feel part of the vibrant neighborhood, just two blocks from the Magnificent Mile. The hotel also features a green roof, covered with grass and vegetation.
