Two new properties have recently opened in South Africa ahead of the World Cup, whilst the Georgian seaside town of Batumi welcomed its first Western property this week. In Japan, Hilton opened its largest property in Asia-Pacific.

Fairmont Zimbali Resort
Zimbali, South Africa
The "exclusive and elegant" 154-room Fairmont Resort offers ocean views with guestrooms styled from "natural materials of the African environment". There are several restaurants and bars, a spa, five outdoor swimming pools (including a freshwater pool and saltwater pools overlooking the Indian Ocean) and an 18-hole golf course which is currently under construction.

Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk
Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan
Hilton's largest property in Asia-Pacific offers 1,052 guest rooms on the waterfront of Fukuoka, an array of food and beverage outlets, three wedding chapels, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a sauna. It is part of the Hawks Town development, which includes the Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome, the home stadium of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks baseball team.

Sheraton Batumi
Batumi, Georgia
The rapidly-growing town of Batumi now has its first Western hotel chain in town with the official opening of the 203-room Sheraton. The hotel features 43 suites (including one penthouse with views of the Black Sea), several restaurants and bars with views of the Batumi skyline and its own night club.

Delaire Graff Lodges and Spa
Stellenbosch, South Africa
Situated in the winelands of South Africa on the highest crest of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass, the Delaire Lodges and Spa offers ten lodges opening onto wooden decks with views over the vineyards. Each lodge features its own private heated infinity pool and the resort also boasts a Cape Dutch style restaurant, private cinema and spa.

Marriott Lakeshore Reserve

Offering 85 villas, the new Lakeshore Reserve offers further accommodation on the same campus as the existing JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes properties. Each villa offers kitchen, living and dining spaces, whilst leisure amenities include two dueling waterslides and two whirlpool spas, a convenience store, a pool bar and a fitness centre.
