This week sees the opening of a new luxury hotel in developing economic hubs Tianjin and Mumbai, whilst the newly-reopened Machu Picchu gets a new place to stay.
Fortune Park LakeCity
Thane, Mumbai, India
Surrounded by 30 lakes, this 58-room hotel is the first chain hotel to open in Thane, a growing economic hub outside Mumbai. The property features a vegetarian restaurant and a "Health Super Market" selling health and sports equipment and drinks.
Labelled a "penthouse hotel, Raffles' new Tianjin property will offer 116 luxury rooms at the top of the 50 floor Tianjin West Tower. The hotel offers round the clock butler services , a rooftop restaurant with breathtaking views of the city, a spa and rooms that are double the size of standard Tianjin rooms.
Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte/Concord
14 years after launching the brand, Hilton continues to show its determination to enter the mid-range market with the opening of its 500th Garden Inn in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 120-room property features the brands trademark Pavilion meeting area/lobby, along with free internet access and high definition televisions in the rooms.
Machu Picchu, Peru
The first property to be launched under Inkaterra's affordable brand "byInkaterraGroup", the 48 room El MaPi has been created by Peruvian designer Jordi Puig. Situated at the gateway to the recently-reopened citadel, El mapi describes itself as an "unpretentious haven of efficient hospitality".
The Inntel Zaandam
An architectural mashup of Zaanse houses, the 160-room Inntel Zaandam looks as if it comes straight out of a fairytale. Somehow, architect Wilfried van Windenhas also managed to cram a swimming pool, wellness centre, turkish baths and a restaurant-bar in the 11-storey structure.
