(Mandarin Oriental)

Next week, Singapore kicks off the tenth edition of ARTSingapore, its four day art fair highlighting contemporary and emerging are from local and international artists.

It's been a busy month for the tiny country, which last weekend hosted the only night Grand Prix in the Formula One season, welcoming an estimated 80,000 people.

Although tourists to Singapore dropped between 2008 and 2009 due largely to the economic crisis, authorities are fighting back hard this year with the opening of two huge "integrated resorts".

Designed to capture some of Asia's gaming glory from Macau, these massive entertainment, hotel and casino complexes - and the staging of the Grand Prix - are all part of the strategy to market Singapore as a leisure destination.

As Singapore is a city state, we've replaced the city listings with hotel categories.
