This weekend sees The Savoy Hotel reopen as one of London's most iconic establishments, following the most expensive refurbishment in British history. Next week, HM The Queen is set to name Cunard's new ship Queen Elizabeth before it sets sail on her maiden voyage.
The Savoy Hotel reopens
One of the most iconic hotels in the world, The Savoy is set to reopen October 10 after a closure of almost three years. The extensive refurbishment has seen the addition of the Beaufort Bar, a champagne, cocktails and cabaret bar, and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop and patisserie.
Queen Elizabeth maiden voyage
The maiden voyage of Cunard's latest 2,092 passenger ship sold out in 29 minutes, according to reports, suggesting that the appetite of travelers for grandeur at sea hasn't passed with the decommissioning of the QE2. Queen Elizabeth features a huge shopping arcade, a spa and artwork by the renowned artist David Linley.
TFWA World Exhibition
TFWA is the industry event for the duty free and travel retail world, showcasing the latest new products that will hit airports in the coming months. Five hundred exhibitors will fill 40,000 square meters of space to network and showcase premium products, as well as attending a concert by Mika and keynote speeches from L'Oreal CEO Jean-Paul Agon and branding expert Martin Lindstrom.
Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

The Fort Lauderdale event celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and the 2010 show is likely to rank again with Dusseldorf and Genoa as one of the largest and most influential shows in the world. The show features everything from green boat technology to fishing tackle, and at 278,000 square meters, is thought to be the largest exhibition in terms of floor/dock space.
Haneda International flights begin
The international terminal at Haneda Airport is expected to welcome its first arrivals October 31, with several large airlines already confirmed to be using the new building. Travelers will enjoy a closer location to Tokyo than the existing Narita, as well as a brand new building and excellent transport connections.
The Setai Fifth Avenue opens
New York, USA
Soaring 60 storeys above New York City, the Setai Fifth Avenue is the latest in a series of landmark hotels that have sprung up in the city this year. Owners claim that its 157 rooms will be among the largest in the city, and the property will also feature a restaurant, bar, fitness center and spa/salon.
World Travel Awards Grand Final Ceremony
The Grand Final of the World Travel Awards marks the culmination of five regional galas that have seen a selection of winners crowned from around the world. The event highlights excellence in the worldwide travel and tourism industry and as such, celebrates some of the outstanding achievements of key organizations and individuals.
Airshow China 2010
The only international aerospace trade show in China that is endorsed by the Chinese central government, Airshow China showcases both Chinese and foreign aircraft and technology. Entertainment comes courtesy of the Pakistan Air Force and Chinese Air Force, both slated to wow the crowds with aerobatic performances.
