The Genoa Boat Show rivals Dusseldorf in size and importance, welcoming 280,000 visitors, 2,400 boats and 1,450 companies in 2009. Expected highlights include Techtrade, an exhibit dedicated to components and accessories for leisure boating and the presentation of the Italiana Cup for International Match Race regatta crews under 18.

Edition Waikiki Opens

Edition is a new brand from legendary hoteliers Bill Marriott and Ian Schrager and is set to open its first property in Hawaii in October. The luxury boutique brand plans a further opening in Istanbul later this year, followed by properties in Mexico City, Barcelona and Bangkok.

The Savoy Hotel Reopens

One of the most iconic hotels in the world, the Savoy Hotel is set to reopen October 10 after a closure of almost three years. The extensive refurbishment has seen the addition of the Beaufort Bar, a champagne, cocktails and cabaret bar, and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop and patisserie.

Queen Elizabeth Maiden Voyage

The maiden voyage of Cunard's latest 2,092 passenger ship sold out in 29 minutes, according to reports, suggesting that the appetite of travelers for grandeur at sea hasn't passed with the decommissioning of the QE2. Queen Elizabeth features a huge shopping arcade, a spa and artwork by the renowned artist David Linley.

TFWA World Exhibition
October 17 - 22
Cannes, France
TFWA is the industry event for the duty free and travel retail world, showcasing the latest new products that will hit airports in the coming months. Five hundred exhibitors will fill 40,000 square meters of space to network and showcase premium products, as well as attending a concert by Mika and keynote speeches from L'Oreal CEO Jean-Paul Agon and branding expert Martin Lindstrom.

Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
October 28 - November 1
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States
The Fort Lauderdale event celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and the 2010 show is likely to rank again with Dusseldorf and Genoa as one of the largest and most influential shows in the world. The show features everything from green boat technology to fishing tackle, and at 278,000 square meters, is thought to be the largest exhibition in terms of floor/dock space.
