Win seven days high-altitude skiing in one of the meccas of off-piste
Thursday 06 October 2011
Champoluc and Gressoney in north-west Italy are nestled in one of the best areas for high-altitude and off-piste skiing in the whole country - and The Independent is offering you the chance to win a seven-night holiday there for you to taste the slopes yourself.
Spread across three valleys of Champoluc, Gressoney and Alagna, the Monterosa region is one of the largest skiing areas in Italy. Connected by a fast, modern lift system, the whole region has maintained an enticingly unspoilt atmosphere - letting you experience a real Italian ski holiday.
The prize includes seven nights half-board at a three-star hotel for two, two week-long ski passes, as well as two return tickets to Turin airport and transfers to Champoluc itself. To enter, all you need to do is fill your details in below.
Champoluc is in the western valley of Ayas and linked to the ski area by the Champoluc Crest gondola. Gressoney is split into two different areas Stafal and La Trinite - each with its own atmosphere and Italian village life. The Punta Jolanda chair whisks skiers from Gressoney to wide, luxurious and, most importantly, crowd-free pistes. Accommodation is excellent, especially the four-star superior Relais des Glacier - famed for its Patisiere café, which serves the best cakes and hot chocolate in town.
If you are more budget conscious, you can choose to stay at the three-star Le Cupole apartments on a self-catering basis, or even sign up for the new 'dine around' programme, which will see you eating seven dinners in all sorts of local restaurants all for one set price.
The Monboso hotel In Gressoney is a perfect hideaway for families and groups, and with a four-star rating, it's got great facilities as well as a mini-club for children. The Du Four, meanwhile, is a family-run three-star hotel is the perfect base from which to hit the slopes - just 50m from the Punta Jolanda chair.
