THOUSANDS of motorists setting off on a European motoring holiday could be inadequately insured because of confusion about the need for a Green Card, says the RAC. With the lowering of European barriers, many motorists mistakenly believe that a Green Card is no longer necessary. 'Drivers with comprehensive insurance have set off without a card and found their insurance covers only minimum Road Traffic Act requirements,' the RAC said. It advises motorists planning to travel abroad to ask their insurer for a Green Card to ensure that full insurance cover is extended overseas.
